In June 1995, Sue Stockdale was reading a newspaper when she saw an advertisement. It said “Wanted – 10 novice arctic explorers to ski 350 miles to the Magnetic North Pole”. She immediately sent off her application and after months of assessments was chosen from over 500 applicants to join the team led by David Hempleman-Adams.

During the thirty-day journey in one of the harshest environments in the world, her abilities were tested to the limit
but Sue survived to become the First British Woman to walk to the Magnetic North Pole.

Following this success, she took part in expeditions to the Geographical North Pole, Antarctica, and crossed the
Greenland Ice Cap with an international team from three countries.

Sue has also participated in two Raleigh International expeditions to Kenya in 1988 and to Chile in 1996 as
Deputy Expedition Leader.

In her latest challenge, Sue took part in Channel 4’s Superhuman in whoch she finished in 2nd place. This gruelling competition involved some of the toughest scientific tests ever seen on TV and contestants were subjected to sleep deprivation and extreme g-force as well as emotional intelligence.

Sue Stockdale is a unique mixture of a people development specialist, a successful businesswoman and a record-breaking explorer. She has held senior roles in corporate training and development and implemented major change management initiatives in organizations including British Gas and the United Nations.

Sue holds a Masters Degree in Quality Management and Improvement and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Business Venturing. She has a particular interest in supporting women`s enterprise and is a non-Executive Director of Oxfordshire`s Enterprise Agency. In addition to her proven success in business and polar expeditions, Sue is an accomplished athlete and has represented Scotland in 3000m and cross-country events.
