Sophie Raworth is the face of BBC’s One O’Clock News. Prior to this she presented the BBC’s Six O’Clock News with George Alagiah. Before her move to the evening news in 2003, Sophie presented BBC Breakfast alongside Jeremy Bowen from its launch in October 2000.

Sophie Raworth joined the BBC regional trainee scheme in 1992 and went on to become a reporter for Greater Manchester Radio. In April 1994, Sophie moved to Brussels to become Europe reporter for the regions. In May 1995, she returned to Leeds to BBC Look North and it was here that she first presented the news, as well as continuing to report and produce it.

Sophie Raworth joined BBC Breakfast News in 1997, co-presenting the programme four days a week. She also anchored the programme from Los Angeles on Oscars night, from Israel and from Washington during Clinton’s impeachment trial.

Sophie Raworth has presented a number of BBC specials, including playing a major role in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations presenting alongside David Dimbleby. More recently she joined David Dimbleby again for a one - hour live debate on the future of the monarchy, Our Monarchy - the Next 50 Years. She has reported on BBC1’s flagship science show Tomorrow’s World and fronted her own science series Dream Lives. Autumn 2002 saw the transmission of her BBC1 daytime quiz show: Judgemental. She has also reported for BBC One’s current affairs programme 4x4.

Sophie studied French and German at Manchester University and as part of her course she spent a year teaching English to teenagers in Toulouse. On completion of her degree, she began a postgraduate course in broadcasting and journalism at City University, London.

Due to her journalistic background, Sophie Raworth is also a popular corporate presenter and conference host.
